3 titles for France but Nastia remains Queen of Free Style
Monaco, Sunday aug 27 th 2006.- UIM SPES Aquabike Women's world championship took place in Monaco on the shiny week end of 26 and 27 of august.Thousands of spectators and hundreds of VIP's followed the races on the new digue of he port Hercule and on the Stefano Casiraghi solarium. 43 of the world's best female pilots participated in 4 classes: Ski Division, Runabout, Salom and Free Style.
Organised for the firts time in Monaco by Mauro Ravenna 's Sports Promotion et Spectacle (SPES), with the concourse of Monaco Yacht Club, under the rules of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), this championship was a big success.
At Slalom, french Audrey Dujardin (aged 29) won the title on saturday at the end of a breathtaking final with Italian Alessia Ida. 2005 female world champion, Anastasia Potanina (aged 22) finished third.
At Ski Division, it's Audrey Dujardin again. Head of the race until the two last rounds, Alessia Ida couldn't help the french from winning again.
At Runabout, three french girls are on the podium. Veteran Karine Paturel, aged 36 and 7 times world champion, lead all the race and finished first. Behind her, big battle between Audrey Dujardin again and young rising star from Monaco Laure Hummel (aged 19). Dujardin, who had promised to be on three podiums this week end, had the last word.
At Free Style, Russian World champion, Anastasia Potanina (aged 22) easily kept his title with a great thrilling show. Only one to be compared with men in this class, she got more than the double of points than the second Eva Maria Antensteiner (Austria).
The prize giving was held at sundown on sunday in the honouring presence of Prince Albert II who greated Mauro Ravenna for the perfect organization of the championship: It was a very difficult challenge, the Prince said to Mauro, but you sure won it".
